About this Project:

Sharon Center, Ohio | 14,500 SF | $1.5 million

THE CHALLENGE

Design a full-service cancer treatment center within an existing medical office building shell, requiring integration of highly technical equipment including a linear accelerator, CT imaging, sterile compounding pharmacy, and infusion services—all meeting stringent FGI and radiation safety requirements.

OUR APPROACH

  • Shell space build-out requiring complete MEP infrastructure design
  • Coordinated linear accelerator vault design with structural requirements for radiation shielding
  • Designed USP 797-compliant sterile compounding pharmacy with ISO-5 and ISO-7 cleanroom technology
  • Integrated biosafety cabinets and specialized HVAC for pharmacy contamination control
  • Patient-centered layout balancing clinical efficiency with comfortable treatment environments
  • Planned for future Phase 2 expansion including additional linear accelerator capacity

TECHNICAL SCOPE

  • Linear Accelerator vault with radiation shielding and control room
  • CT imaging suite for treatment planning
  • Infusion therapy rooms for chemotherapy administration
  • USP 797 Sterile Compounding Pharmacy (ISO-5/ISO-7 cleanrooms)
  • Blood Laboratory serving both cancer center and adjacent family practice
  • Exam rooms, treatment rooms, procedure rooms
  • Physician offices and treatment planning areas

RESULT

University Hospitals successfully expanded oncology services to Medina County, providing comprehensive cancer care closer to patients' homes. The facility integrated complex diagnostic and treatment technology within a patient-friendly environment
